Watering
In order for the lawn to be thick, green and resistant to drying out, it is necessary to provide it with the right amount of water. The key is not only how much we water, but also when and how often .
Most important rules:
- Water requirements depend on the weather, but typically a lawn needs around 20-30 litres of water per m² per week . This can be easily checked with a simple rain gauge.
- It is best to water less frequently but abundantly – once or twice a week at most. Short, daily watering is less effective.
- It is best to water in the evening or early morning when evaporation is lowest.
- Warning! Over-watering can be just as harmful as drought – it leads to root rot and promotes disease development.
- Automated irrigation systems (especially underground ones) are a great way to optimally water the entire surface – they are worth investing in.
